One Piece chapter reviews

so yeah the plan is to do a review of each chapter each week asap after it comes out. i'll make a little collage image and do a write up and then give it one to five stars. that's the plan, at least. i'll see if i can keep it up. most won't be this long, this one was just because it was the first one and i wanted to talk about impel down. i think in the future i'll discuss arcs and characters and such in separate posts and just talk about the events of the chapter in the review.

here's sort of my criteria for grading them.

essentially i'll be looking at:

-how exciting was the chapter

-how much did the chapter move the story forward

-how emotionally moving (funny or sad) was the chapter

-how well drawn was the chapter

obviously there's some overlap there and probably some other things i'll be looking for that i didn't think to mention and they won't be weighted equally and it's not like i'll be doing calculations in my head or anything. that's just sort of what i want out of each chapter. one star means a chapter that was really boring and didn't really do anything for me, five stars is a chapter that made me cry, laugh until i hurt, reread it dozens and dozens of times, etc. other grades are obviously in the middle.

i might retroactively grade chapters before this but probably not, since it's hard to judge them after knowing what comes next.

anyways, i hope someone out there reads these and enjoys them. hopefully i'll do them regardless, though.
