Song of the Day #163 - DE DE MOUSE - virgin steps

More from ONE MINUTE OLDER

Which I discussed a bit here, including an explanation of why it doesn't really make sense to choose any individual track as song of the day. But here we are again! Simply because I just cannot get enough of this song, and when I've gone out of my way to listen to a song so many times in one day, it just has to be song of the day.

There is so much to love with this song omg where do I even begin. Like maybe how the complexity builds? The opening part feels wholly engrossing but then when it changes at 0:18 it's like, huh? Huh??? There's a sort of "clockwork" feel to it, but also something very human, like it might soundtrack a scene of people doing intricate artisan work en masse? Or something? And the way the opening repeats sorta at the minute mark but "darker", with the bottom "filled out", uhh, and the synths come in, and idk, idk, there might not be anything much sensible to say about this one. It's nice. It's another one of those "powerfully emotional but idk what the emotion is" tracks.
